Members of the band Sound Doctrine each have a testimony and a heart to share it. Here are some of the biographical backgrounds of band members:
Howie Pulkowski is a member of and worship leader for Merrill Bible Church in Merrill, Wisconsin. Howie is a multi-gifted musician, singer, and song-writer. With a strong commitment to sharing the love of Jesus Christ in his music, Howie has written songs about evangelism and God’s plan for our lives, as well as worship hymns. He sings lead, along with playing guitar and mandolin, helping Sound Doctrine achieve a folksy, country style all their own. His heart to serve and his desire to evangelize the world for Christ are a tremendous asset to Sound Doctrine. Howie is also lead singer and guitarist for the worship band 9 to 3.
Anne Pulkowski has a heart for missions! In 2008, Anne joined her church for her first missions trip, which was to Nassau in the Bahamas, and her life was changed in many ways. Before the trip, Anne had not sung a note in public since she was 9 years old. While there, God told her she was to "make a joyful noise" for Him. Upon returning to the US, Anne and Howie attended the One Way Cafe, where they performed together for the first time. Since then, Anne has sung in her church worship team, at the One Way Cafe, and now with Sound Doctrine. Walking by faith is Anne's strength. She is the group's prayer warrior and Howie's wonderful wife. We are blessed that God told Anne to sing, and that she now sings with Sound Doctrine!
Dave Schwandt is Sound Doctrine's drummer and a worship team member at Merrill Bible Church. A loving husband and the father of two great sons, Dave carefully manages time from his busy family life to play with Sound Doctrine. He is firmly committed to sharing the Gospel through music and the Word. Dave's sons are often in attendance to hear Sound Doctrine play and he is teaching his oldest to play the drums already! Dave is a member of the Board of Directors of O.T.T.S. Garage, a youth outreach ministry in Merrill, Wisconsin and an active member of Merrill Bible church.
Connie Schwandt joined the band in 2009. Connie is married to Dave; she is a gifted vocalist and welcome addition to Sound Doctrine. Connie has a love for the Lord that shows in everything she does. Connie also belongs to Merrill Bible Church and sings with the praise and worship team. Connie is a grade school teacher at Kate Goodrich in Merrill, WI. She enjoys sharing the Gospel through music; being able to experience this with her husband makes it even more wonderful.
Founding Members, Greg and Karen Dove, of Dove Ministries, were married in 1996 and the two have performed in churches and community events across the Midwest and Southeastern United States. Their CD, Birds of Pray, released in 2003, contains 11 original contemporary and country Christian songs composed and written by Greg Dove, recorded through Barker Recording Studios and produced by Swift Music Group in Nashville, Tennessee.
Greg and Karen re-located to Florida, where they continue to minister through Dove Ministries. They are missed and join the band in worship whenever they are back in Wisconsin.
